Silvio Berlusconi (/,be@rlU'skoUni/ BAIR-luu-SKOH-nee; Italian: ['silvjo berlu'sko:ni] (listen) born on September 29, 1936) is an Italian media tycoon and politician who served as Premier of Italy in four governmets from 1994 to 1995, 2001 to 2006 , and then from 2008 to 2011.He was a Member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1994 until 2013, and was an elected member of the Senate of the Republic since 2022. Prior to that, he served from March to November 2013, and as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2019and prior to that from 1999 to 2001.Berlusconi is the sole shareholder of Mediaset and was the owner of the Italian football club A.C. Milan from 1986 to 2017. He was nicknamed Il Cavaliere (The Knight) for his Order of Merit for Labour; he voluntarily resigned from this order on March 14, 2014. 5 Forbes has ranked him as the 190th most wealthy person in the world as of 2018 with a net worth of US$8 billion. Forbes placed him 12th on its list of World's Most Powerful Persons, due to his dominance over Italian politics for more than 20 years as the head of the center-right coalition.
