Bettany Hughes

 Hughes has presented and written many documentaries and series about ancient and contemporary subjects. She was awarded the Naomi Sargant Special Award for outstanding broadcasting in the field of education in 2009 and also the Norton Medlicott Awards for historical services by the Historical Association in 2012. In 2011, she delivered the Hellenic Institute's Tenth Annual Lecture "Ta Erotika The Things of Love" and in 2011 she delivered the Huw Wheldon Memorial lecture at the Royal Television Society. Her thesis was that the history of television is thriving and enjoying a new golden age. She was awarded the title of distinguished Friend of Oxford University in 2014.
