Larry R. Williams

Williams has written 11 books, focusing mainly focused on commodities trading and stocks. The Mount Sinai Myth is another book written by Williams. It was inspired by the archeological hunt that was conducted for Mount Sinai in Egypt. Howard Blum rewrote this book and it was published in Vanity Fair. Confessions of A Radical Protestor details his battle against the Internal Revenue Service that led to three tax evasion charges. On February 5, 2010, those charges were dropped and he pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges of failing to file income tax returns on time (for tax years 1999, 2000, and 2001).Williams has created numerous market indicators, including Williams %R, Ultimate Oscillator, COT indices, accumulation/distribution indicators, cycle forecasts, market sentiment, and value measurements for commodity prices. Williams was the winner of the 1987 World Cup Championship of Futures Trading from the Robbins Trading Company, where the $10,000 prize was increased to $1,000,000 (11,300%) during a twelve-month contest using real money. A decade later his daughter the actor Michelle Williams, won the same contest. Jason Williams, Williams' son and psychiatrist, wrote a book about the character of successful traders called The Mental Edge in trading. Larry Williams recorded four videos in November 2014 at the Traders Expo Las Vegas. He talked about his more than 50 years of trading. He was on Planet Money's economics podcast in 2018 to talk about the tax issue, his extradition and trial.
