 Venus Ebony Starr Williams[2] (born on 17 June 1980)is an American professional tennis player. World No. 1 in singles and doubles, Williams has won seven Grand Slam singles titles, five at Wimbledon and two at the US Open. 4. Venus Williams is widely considered one of the greatest athletes in the sport. She was coached by Richard Williams and Oracene Williams, her parents. The year 1994 saw her became a professional and reached her first major final at the 1997 US Open. In 2000 and 2001, Williams claimed the Wimbledon and US Open titles, as along with Olympic singles gold in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Williams made it to the singles world number one ranking for the first time 25 February 2002. The singles world No. 1 ranking on February 25 2002. This was her first achievement in the Open era and second after Althea Gibson. She made it to four major finals in succession between 2002 and 2003 however, she lost to Serena. After suffering from injuries, she only won one major title during 2003-2006. Williams was back at her peak in 2007 she won Wimbledon which she repeated the following year. She was ranked No. 2 in the world singles rankings in 2010. 2 in singles however, she suffered a second time due to injuries. Beginning in 2014, she gradually improved her performance, culminating in two major final appearances in the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2017.Along with her seven major singles titles, Williams has also won 14 major titles for women's doubles, all partnering Serena Williams. They are unbeaten at Grand Slam doubles finals. Williams was ranked world number. after completing a non-calendar year Grand Slam at the French Open, Serena and she became the world No. one in doubles on the 7th of June in 2010. They also won three Olympic gold medals in women's doubles in the years 2000, 2008 and 2012, adding Venus' singles gold in 2000 and her mixed doubles silver medal in 2016. 10. Williams also took home two mixed doubles major titles, both in 1998The Williams sisters are acknowledged for ushering in a new era of athleticism and power on the professional women's tennis tour.With the 49 WTA Tour singles titles, Williams surpasses only her sister Serena in active players who have the highest number of singles titles. With 22 WTA doubles titles and two mixed doubles titles her combined total of 73 WTA titles also ranks second in active players, ahead of Serena. She is also one of only two active players who have reached the singles finals of all four majors, alongside SerenaWilliams. She was twice the season's money top prize winner (in 2001 and 2017), and ranks second to Serena in career-long cash prize winnings. She had more than US$42 million in March 2022.
