 Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. (born on 20th October 1971), known professionally as Snoop Dogg (previously Snoop Doggy Dogg and briefly Snoop Lion),[note 1 is a popular American rapper from America. His popularity began in 1992, when he was in Dr. Dre's debut solo track, "Deep Cover", and later on his debut album as a solo artist, "The Chronic". Broadus sold over 23 million albums across America and 35 million worldwide. His awards include an American Music Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and 17 nominations at the Grammy Awards.Broadus has released his debut solo album, Doggystyle, produced by Dr. Dre and released by Death Row Records in November 1993, and it debuted at the top of the most popular album charts, the Billboard 200, and on the chart of Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums. Selling 800,000 copies in its first week, Doggystyle was certified quadruple-platinum in 1994 and featured two singles "What's My Name?" and "Gin and Juice". Broadus composed the score for Death Row Records' 1994 short film Murder Was the Case. Snoop was the star. His second album Tha doggfather debuted at number 1 on both charts in 1996. It featured "Snoop’s Upside Ya Head" as the title track. The next year, the album was certified double-platinum.After leaving Death Row Records in January 1998, Broadus signed with No Limit Records, releasing three Snoop albums: Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told (1998), No Limit Top Dogg (1999), and Tha Last Meal (2000). Broadus signed with Priority/Capitol/EMI Records in 2002, and then released Paid tha cost of being da Boss. In 2004, he signed to Geffen Records, releasing his following three albums called R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece, then Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, and Ego Trippin'. Priority Records released his album Malice 'n' Wonderland on the 29th of September in 2009, and then Doggumentary in the year the year 2011. Snoop Dogg has appeared in motion-pictures and has hosted numerous television shows, such as Doggy Fizzle Televizzle Snoop Dogg's Father Hood, and Dogg After Dark. He is also a coach for the youth football league and the high school football team. He was hired by EMI in September 2009 to become the chairman of Priority Records, a reactivated label.
