The People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson was a criminal case in Los Angeles County Superior Court that began in 1994. O. J. Simpson (a former player actor, broadcaster, actor and NFL broadcaster) was acquitted and tried of murder charges against Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. They were both stabbed to death outside Brown's condominium in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on the night of June 12th the 12th of June, 1994. The trial lasted for 11 months, from November 9 1994.Opening statements were made on January 24 in 1995. [2] Simpson was found not guilty of the murder charges despite numerous evidences, including DNA evidence, that was relatively new. Opening statements were delivered on January 24 1995. The trial occurred just following the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Commentators agree that the defense used the anger of the city's African-American community toward the LAPD that was known for its racism, and convinced the majority-Black jury to convict Simpson. [6][7][8] The trial is usually referred to as the trial of the century because of its global media attention and was described as the "most publicized" criminal trial in the history of human history.
