Mehmet Oz

 The son of Turkish immigrants, Oz was raised in Wilmington, Delaware, and graduated from Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. A dual citizen of both the U.S. and Turkey, Oz was a member of the Turkish Army during the 1980s for 60 days of compulsory training, specifically designed for citizens living in other countries to keep his Turkish citizenship. In 1986, he began his residency as a surgeon at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. In 2001, he was appointed an instructor of surgery at Columbia University, and later retired to professor emeritus in 2018. In 2003, Oprah Winfrey was the first guest on the Discovery Channel program Second Opinion with Dr. Oz, and he was a regular guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show and made more than sixty appearances. In 2009, The Dr. Oz Show is a weekly show on television that discusses medical issues and health, was created by Winfrey's Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures Television and ran for thirteen seasons.Oz's propagation of pseudoscience, including topics like alternative medical practices, faith healing and other paranormal belief systems, has earned him some criticism from various medical publications and physicians
