Kramer's memoir, Hit Hard: A The Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top was published on June 30, 2009.Kramer made a guest appearance in the 22nd season (2010-11) of The Simpsons in the episode "The Ned-Liest Catch", as a former partner of Bart's school teacher Mrs. Krabappel, as told in the episode of the third season "Flaming Moe's", which included all five members of Aerosmith which was the first band to guest star on the show. In 2015, NECA published a "Simpsonsized" action figure featuring Kramer along with the other members of Aerosmith in its fourth series in their Simpsons 25th Anniversary collection of collectible figurines. Kramer also answered fan questions, and said he doesn't care about the figure so long as Aerosmith plays the material. In 2015, he announced a business collaboration with Les Otten, the former vice chairman of the Boston Red Sox, to launch two Joey Kramer's Rockin' & Roastin' Cafe and Restaurant locations in Newry, Maine, at the base of the Sunday River Ski Resort; and North Attleborough, Massachusetts. The Newry location was closed in the year the year 2016. In 2017, the North Attleborough location was closed.
