Jim Rohn

He started his professional life as a manager of human resources for Sears. An acquaintance invited him go to a lecture given by John Earl Shoaff. Rohn was the distributor for Shoaff's direct selling business AbundaVita in 1955. In 1957, Rohn quit AbundaVita to join Nutri-Bio, a direct-selling company. The founders of the company as well as Shoaff, started to mentor him. Rohn was able to build one of the most successful businesses in the world because of the mentorship. Rohn was invited by the Rotary Club to speak at the club's annual meeting after Nutri-Bio ended its operations in 1960. He agreed, and then other people started asking for his participation at luncheons as well as other occasions. He presented his first seminar in public at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 1963. He began to present seminars across the nation in which he shared his story as well as explaining his personal growth philosophy.
