Jeremy Lin

 Jeremy Shu-How Lin from Taiwan, a professional player in basketball, was born August 23, 1988. He last played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions (CBA) in China. He led an unexpected winning turnaround with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the 2011-12 season, generating a cultural phenomenon that is known as "Linsanity". Lin is the sole Asian American who has ever played in the NBA. He was the first American to have Chinese or Taiwanese origin. Lin is the first Asian American to win a NBA championship. Lin won the title in the year 2019 for the Toronto Raptors. Lin was born in the San Francisco Bay Area, and was named Northern California Basketball Player Of The Year as a high school senior. Lin was denied athletic scholarships and enrolled at Harvard University. There, the team was all-conference and three-time Ivy League player. Lin joined the Golden State Warriors, his hometown team in 2010, when he wasn't selected from the college. Lin wasn't drafted out of the college system and joined the Golden State Warriors in the year 2010. He received assignments to NBA Development League (D-League) in his first season. In 2011, Lin was waived by both the Warriors as well as the Houston Rockets before joining the New York Knicks early in 2011-12At first, Lin played sparingly for the Knicks and then spent time in the D-League. In February 2012, however, he was promoted to the starting lineup and led the team on seven-game winning streak. Lin's stellar play was instrumental in helping the Knicks reach the 2012 playoffs. It also brought him international fame. Lin was included on the covers of Sports Illustrated, Time, and was named to the Time 100 list of the top 100 people around the world. In July 2012, Lin won the ESPY Award for Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.
