Hempel Group

 Jorgen Christian Hempel (1894 – 30 January, 1986) He was the founder of Hempel's Marine Paints Ltd. which was a wholesaler of marine paints. When he was just 21 years old, of old Hempel was Denmark's newest licensed wholesaler at the time. In the following year, he established his own paint mixing factory.In 1917, Hempel collaborated with the Technical University of Denmark, to develop Hempel's first antifouling coating for ships' hulls.During the 1950s and 1960s, Hempel expanded around the globe. In 1951, Hempel opened the first American factory and in 1963 , he opened the first Hong Kong office. The company started producing decorative coatings in the Middle East in the 1960s. In 1963, the company established its first office in Hong Kong. Hempel was one of the first coatings companies to concentrate on renewable energy sources and it supplied coatings to the first commercial wind farm in 1980.J.C. Hempel who was the head of the company for seventy-one years, died in 1986 at the age of 91. Hempel was a well-known group with local management across 38 countries by 2000. Over the next decade, it consolidated by buying out its competitors in Croatia, China, Morocco and the Middle East
