 Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2 1972), also known by his ring name The Rock, is an American actor and former professional wrestler. He is widely recognized as one of the most professional wrestlers of all time. His contribution to the growth of the World Wrestling Federation, now WWE during the Attitude Era (an time of boom in the industry during the late 1990s and early 2000s) was widely acknowledged. Johnson was a wrestler with the WWF for eight years prior to embarking on acting as a profession. His films have earned him more than $3.5 billion in North America and over $10.5 billion globally, making Johnson one of the world's most successful and highest-paid actors.Prior to his appearance as the top-grossing actor in the 2010s, Johnson was an athlete. At Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania in the Lehigh Valley, he ultimately was a standout in the school's wrestling and football teams. The athletic abilities he displayed at Freedom High School led him to be listed as one of the most outstanding defensive tackle high-school prospects across the country and attracted the attention of numerous NCAA Division I college football programs.Johnson accepted an athletic scholarship to study at the University of Miami, one of the top universities in the country's football teams. As a college freshman the player was part of the university's national championship team but largely was a part of the four years of his college football career at the University of Miami in backup roles with elite players, including future NFL player as well as Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Warren Sapp.Johnson was aspired to play professional football , but was not selected in the 1995 NFL Draft. Following his graduation from the University of Miami that year and signing with the NFL, he was signed by
