Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair

 Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair bd Lzyz lGryr was born 1 July 1954. He is the chairman of Mashreq, and a director of the Abdullah Al Ghurair Group of Companies. This is one of the largest Middle East business groups with operations in over 20 countries. His roots in business extend back more than half a century. Forbes estimates that Al Ghurair's wealth is US$4.8 billion. This makes him the 420th wealthiest person on the planet. Al Ghurair studied as an industrial engineer and earned an honours degree at California Polytechnic State University. He joined Mashreq in 1977. He served in various capacities until 1988 when he was appointed responsible for international banking operations. This included the establishment of branches in New York, the United States of America, London, UK, Bahrain, Qatar and Egypt. He was named Executive Director in 1989 and was appointed CEO the following year.
