Patti LaBelle

 Patricia Louise Holte, born May 24 1944, is most well known for her role as Patti LaBelle. She is an American R&B singer and actress, as well as a businesswoman. LaBelle is also known as the "Godmother Of Soul". She began her career as the frontwoman and singer of the vocal group Patti LaBelle, and the Bluebelles in the 1960s. When the name of the group was changed to Labelle in 1970, the number-one hit "Lady Marmalade" was released. After the breakup of the group in the year 1976, LaBelle started a successful solo career. The critically-acclaimed debut album featured the song that made her famous, "You Are My Friend". After the huge success of the singles "If You Knew", Love, Need and Want You" and "Stir It Up", LaBelle was a huge solo artist. Two years later, LaBelle was a mainstream solo performer. In 1986, she scored a number one album"Winner in You" aswell as a number one duet single "On my own" together with Michael McDonald. In 1989 the band Be Yourself was the album that brought us the smash hit "If You Asked me To" and it was a song that Celine Dion later performed. LaBelle won the Grammy in 1992 for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. The album released in 1991, Burnin' included tracks like "Somebody loves You Baby (You know who it is)," "Feels Like Another One (Feels Like Heaven)," and "When You've been Blessed (Feels Like Heaven). One Night Only. One Night Only. She reunited with her Labelle bandmates for the album Back to Now, followed by a very well-received promo tour.LaBelle has also experienced great success as an actress. She had an Oscar-nominated role in the film A Soldier's Story, and on TV shows like A Different World and American Horror Story The Freak Show. LaBelle was the lead in her own sitcom Out All Night in 1992. A decade later, LaBelle hosted her own lifestyle show on TV, called The Living It Up with Patti LaBelle on TV One. 2015
