Williams was a Broadway actor in Romance/Romance The musical was a Broadway musical that starred Tony Award winner Alison Fraser. Williams was cast in the role of lead male "Alfred/Sam" in the event that Scott Bakula left the production. Williams was cast as Greg Brady many years later. He was part of an array of television and movie appearances that promoted his role as a teenager. However, he later landed a role that was quite different from the Brady role. In 1984 Williams was cast in the role of Hannibal, the English conman Hannibal. He conspired with Holly Sutton Scorpio (Emma Samms), on the highly-rated General Hospital. Williams was a part of several Brady Bunch TV films, including The Very Brady Christmas in 1988. In 1989, Williams received the Young Artist Foundation's Former Child Star Award for "Lifetime Achievement" for his role in Greg Brady's character. Williams' 1992 autobiography Growing Up Brady: When I Was A Teenage Greg was written with Jay Gilbert and David Brody, both radio producers and comedians. Williams briefly appeared as an audience part of the 2002 music clip of Peter Gabriel's hit song "The Barry Williams Show". It is about a fictional Jerry Springer talk show host. Gabriel later admitted that was unaware of the Brady Bunch star.
