Kelly Brianne Clarkson [a] was born on April 24, 1982. She is an American writer, musician, and television personality. Following her win on the season 2002 of American Idol, she was able to gain a record deal with RCA. Her first single, "A Moment Like This" made it to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100, and became the nation's top selling single of 2002. It was included on her debut album, Thankful (2003), which debuted atop the Billboard 200. Clarkson made a decision to reinvent herself and resigned from Idol management to concentrate on the pop genre for Breakaway (2004). Breakaway was supported by four US Top-Ten singles, including the title track, "Since U Have Been Gone", "Behind These Hazel Eyes", "Because of You" and "Because of You". It sold more than 12 million copies around the world, and she won two Grammy Awards. Clarkson also was in charge of the creative direction of her third studio album, My December (2006) and wrote all the songs and serving as its executive producer. The label was not happy with the album's more dark rock music, and she reluctantly promoted it. The fourth and fifth studio albums The albums, The Best I Ever Wanted (2009) and Stronger (2011) was a return to a more light-hearted and pop rock sound with the former becoming her second US top-selling album, and the second making her the first artist to be awarded the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album twice. Both albums were accompanied by a Hot 100 number-one single: "My Life Would Suck Without You" is the record for having the biggest leap to the top spot in the history of the chart, as well as "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)", which became her best-selling single worldwide. Clarkson was also the top-selling Christmas album of the year, Wrapped in Red (2013). The album's lead single, "Underneath the Tree", was named the ASCAP's most-loved Christmas tune that was released during the 21st century. Piece by Piece (2015) was her seventh studio album. The album's title track debuted at number one in the US. Clarkson joined Atlantic in 2016, following her departure from RCA. Her eighth album, Meaning of Life (2017) was released. The title track reached the top ten. She has 11 top-ten singles in the US, and nine top-ten singles from the UK, Canada, and Australia. She was the first artist in history to have a top spot on every single Billboard's pop, adult contemporary, adult pop, country charts, as well as dance. Clarkson was also coach on The Voice from its fourteenth season to the twenty-first season. She also since 2019, has hosted her own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarkson has been awarded three MTV Video Music Awards and four American Music Awards. She also received two Academy of Country Music Awards. Clarkson was also a host on the Kelly Clarkson Show. 5 Billboard has described Clarkson as "one of pop music's greatest singers",[6] and honored her with the Powerhouse Award, while VH1 has ranked her 19th on their list of 100 Greatest Women in Music.
