George Strait

 George Harvey Strait Sr. (born May 18 1952) is an American country music performer and songwriter, actor and music producer. Strait is frequently referred to as the "King of Country", and is one of the most well-known and influential recording musicians of all time. Strait is believed to have ignited the neotraditionalist movement in the late 1980s. His simplistic cowboy image and roots-oriented music was significant in the growth of the neotraditionalist trend and the decline of pop-country. The 1980s saw seven albums from Strait topped the charts of country music. Strait was awarded his first Grammy Award for the album Troubadour in 2000. He was also named Artist of the Decade at the Academy of Country Music. Strait has been the CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989 , 1990 2013, 2013 and 2014 as well as the ACM Entertainer of the Year for 1990 and 2014. Strait has been nominated for more CMA and ACM awards and has had more nominations in each category than anyone else. By 2009, he broke the previous record set by Conway Twitty for the most hits that were number one on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart when his 44 number-one singles surpassed Twitty's 40. The 60 top-ranked singles are his best. Sixteen "Give It All We Got Tonight" was the top-ranked song in 2013,[7] breaking a record also previously established by Twitty. Strait is currently the record holder for most number one songs on the charts of any artist from any genre of music.Strait is also well-known for his tour career, when he designed an all-round configuration and also introduced festival style tours. Strait Tours made $99 million in just three years. In June 2014, his last concert of The Cowboy Rides Away Tour in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium was attended by 104,793 spectators. This was a new record for the largest indoor concert in North America. His most popular album was Pure Country (1992), which sold 6 million copies (6x platinum). Strait Out of the Box (1995) was his highest-certified album that sold 2 million copies (8x Platinum) because of its being a four-CD box set. According to the RIAA, Strait is the 12th most-sold album artist across the United States overall selling over 69 million albums across the United States His influential and record-breaking legacy of his groundbreaking Neotraditionalist style of country has earned him as the "King of Country Music."
