Farrah Leni Fwcett, born Ferrah Leni Fwcett on February 2, 1947, and died on June 25, 2009. She was an American actor. Fawcett was the four-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee as well as a six-time Golden Globe Award nomination. She rose to international fame due to her starring role in the premiere season of Charlie's Angels. She appeared in numerous television shows in the 1970s along with Lee Majors, her husband, who was a television and film actor. The iconic red swimsuit advertisement[2] sold six million copies in the first year of production. The role that made Fawcett famous was Jill Munroe, a private investigator in Charlie's Angels. Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson also starred in the film. The three actresses soared to fame on the show. Fawcett left Charlie's Angels after appearing in the premiere season in the year 1976. She later returned as a guest on six episodes in the season's third and fourth (1978-1980). As a result of her performance in Charlie's Angels, Fawcett received her first Golden Globe nomination.In 1983, Fawcett received positive reviews for her performance in the Off-Broadway play Extremities. She was subsequently cast in the 1986 film version and was given an Golden Globe nomination. For her performance in The Burning Bed (1984) as a battered spouse, and Small Sacrifices (1989) as Diane Downs, a real-life serial killer She received Emmy Award nominations. Her 1980s work in TV films garnered her four more Golden Globe nominations. While Fawcett received some criticism for a rambling appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1997, she garnered positive reviews for her part in the film The Apostle with Robert Duvall. In the 21st century, she kept acting in television, securing recurring roles in the sitcom Spin City (2001) and the drama The Guardian (2002-2003). For this show, she received her third Emmy nomination. Fawcett's films include Love Is a Funny Thing (1969) Myra Breckinridge ( 1970), Logan's Run (1976), Sunburn( 1979), Saturn 3 (1980), Saturn 3 (1981), Extremities (1986), The Apostle (1997) as well as Dr. T & the Women (2000). Fawcett was diagnosed in 2006 with cancer of the gastrointestinal tract and died three years later, aged 62. Farrah's Story, a 2009 NBC documentary, followed her struggle with the disease. Her fourth Emmy nomination was posthumously awarded to her.
