Stephen King

 Stephen Edwin King, born September 21, 1947, is an American author of supernatural and horror fiction, suspense. King also writes science-fiction and fantasy novels. His novels are referred to as the "King of Horror", which is a play on his surname, as well as a reference his high status in pop culture. The books have sold more than 350 million copies, and a number of them have been turned into TV series, movies, miniseries, comic books and television series. King has written 64 novels under his pen name Richard Bachman and five nonfiction books. King has written more than 200 stories. In 2003 the National Book Foundation awarded him the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. [7] He has also been recognized for his contribution to literature throughout his list of publications, such as the 2004 World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement and the 2007 Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He was awarded the National Medal of Arts by the U.S. National Endowment for the Arts in 2015 in recognition of his contributions to literature.
