 Susan Alexandra "Sigourney" Weaver (/sI'go:rni/;born October 8 1949) is an American actress. She is a prominent figure in science fiction, popular culture and has earned numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards, a British Academy Film Award and an Grammy Award. In addition to being nominated for three Academy Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards in addition to as nominations for an Tony Award, four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as four Primetime Emmy Awards, she also received nominations for the Tony Award, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and four Primetime Emmy Awards. [3] She was voted the number 20 in Channel 4's countdown of the 100 Greatest Movie Stars of All Time, being one of only two women in the Top 20.Weaver became famous when she was in the role of Ellen Ripley in the Ridley Scott directed science fiction film Alien (1979) that was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer. Her critically acclaimed performance in the role of Ellen Ripley from James Cameron's Aliens (1986), she was nominated for the first Academy Award. Alien 3 (1992), and Alien Resurrection (1997) were her two sequels to the role. The character is considered to be one of the most significant female protagonists in cinema's history. In addition, she played the role of Dana Barrett in Ghostbusters II (1989), Ghostbusters (2016) and Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021). Cameron reunited her as the character Dr. Grace Augustine in Avatar 2009, which is still the most successful film ever. The actress is set to reprise her role in Avatar The Way of Water (2022). She is famous for her Broadway work and was nominated for an Tony Award for her performance in Hurlyburly (1984). Her most acclaim was when she played primatologist Dian Fossey in Gorillas in the Mist (1988) in which she was awarded an Golden Globe Award, and in the same year, winning another Golden Globe Award for her performance in Working Girl. Weaver was the first actress to have two acting wins at the Golden Globes in the same year. She also got an Academy Award nomination for both films. Weaver joined forces with Ridley Scott as Queen Isabella in 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992) and starred in Roman Polanski's Death and the Maiden (1994). For her role in The Ice Storm, she was awarded the BAFTA Award. Since her time, she has appeared in films such as Galaxy Quest (1999) and Holes
