 Shakira Mebarak Ripoll (/S@'kI@r@Sh@-KEER@ Spanish: [(t)Sa'kira]; born on February 2, 1977)is a Colombian performer from Colombia. [4] Born in Barranquilla, she has been called the "Queen of Latin Music"and is noted for her versatility musically. Her recording debut with Sony Music Colombia at the age of 13. After the loss of her first two albums Magia (1991) and Peligro (1993) Her recording debut was with Sony Music Colombia when she was 13. (1998). The fifth album she released, Laundry Service (2001) was her first foray into the English-language market. It sold more than 13 million copies across the world. The worldwide success of her singles, "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes", helped to establish her status as a top artist in the crossover market. Broadcast Music, Inc. described Shakira a "pioneer" that extended the reach of Latino performers from around the globe. The Spanish album Fijacion Oral, Vol. El Dorado (2017), Sale el Sol (2010) and 1 (2005) all topped the Billboard Top Latin Albums charts and were certified as diamonds (Latin by the Recording Industry Association of America. Additionally she released her English albums Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 (2005), She Wolf (2009) and Shakira (2014) were all certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum across a range of nations around the world. Certain songs from her catalog have charted at number one in multiple countries, including "La Tortura", "Hips Don't Lie", "Beautiful Liar", "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)", "Loca" as well as "Chantaje". She was a coach for two seasons of The Voice, an American singing competition TV series (2013-2014).
