John Michael "Ozzy", born on the 3rd of December 1948, is an English singer, songwriter and TV personality. Osbourne gained fame in the 1970s when he was the singer-lead of the Black Sabbath heavy metal group. Osbourne was born in Birmingham and sang on every album, from the first album in 1970 until Technical Ecstasy, released in 1976. They were an influential force on the development of heavy metal, particularly their critically highly acclaimed albums Paranoid and Master of Reality. Osbourne was exiled by Black Sabbath in 1979 for his alcohol and drug abuse. He went on to be a successful and successful solo artist and released thirteen studio albums. The first seven albums received multi-platinum certifications in America. Osbourne has returned to Black Sabbath several times since. He returned in 1997 and was a part of the band's final studio album, 13 (2013) in the year before they went on a final tour which concluded by performing in February of 2017 in their home town, Birmingham. The band's longevity and success has earned him the designation of "Godfather of Metal". The total album sales of Ozzy Osbourne from Black Sabbath plus his solo work have surpassed 100 million. In 2008, he was admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an original member of Black Sabbath and into the UK Music Hall of Fame as both a solo artist and a member of the group. He has been honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Birmingham Walk of Stars. In 2014, at the MTV Europe Music Awards, he received the Global Icon Award. In 2015, Osbourne received the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors.
