Meyer moved to Los Angeles in 1993 to play the Fox show for teens Beverly Hills, 90210 in the role as Lucinda Nicholson. She was soon cast as the main female character in Johnny Mnemonic, opposite Keanu Reeves. The next year, she starred in the film of fantasy Dragonheart directed by Rob Cohen. In the beginning of 1997, Meyer had a recurring role as Kate Miller in the NBC sitcom Friends. The following year, she went to appear as Casper Van Dien in the science fiction film Starship Troopers directed by Paul Verhoeven. The film didn't do well at the box office. In the following year, she was a co-star with James Caan in the neo-noir film Poodle Springs, which was released on HBO.
