Natalie Portman, born Natalie Hershlag (Hebrew 9 June 1981), is an American actress. From her early teens, she's had a successful career in film. She has been in a variety of independent and blockbuster films and has received numerous awards like the Academy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. At the age of 16 she starred in The Diary of a Young Girl on Broadway in 1998. The film also praised her for her performance in Padme Amidala (Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace) (1999). She was a student at Harvard University from 1999 to 2003, and graduated with a degree in psychology. Portman decreased her roles in acting however she continued to be a part of the Star Wars prequel trilogy (2002 and 2005) and also in The Public Theater's revival in 2001 of the Anton Chekhov play The Seagull. In 2004, Portman was nominated for the Academy Award in Best Supporting Actress. She also received the Golden Globe Award for her part in Closer which is a romantic comedy about the mysterious stripper. Her career further developed by playing Evey in V for Vendetta (2006) and as Anne Boleyn in V for Vendetta (2008) as well as the troubled ballet dancer in Black Swan (2010). She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress. After her role in No Strings Attached (2011) in which she played Jacqueline Kennedy as Jackie (2016). This led to her an additional Academy Award nomination. Portman also played Jane Foster in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Thor: The Dark World (2013) and Thor: Love and Thunder (222). This made her one of the most highly-paid actors worldwide. The actress was also nominated for an Oscar Award. Portman is open about Israel as well as United States politics and is an proponent of animal rights and environmental issues. Benjamin Millepied is her dancer husband and choreographer. They have two kids with Benjamin Millepied.
