Her father arranged for Procter to go to an acting academy for a period of two years following her move to Los Angeles. She had already been cast in a few small roles prior to graduating. In the year 1996, Procter guest-starred as Lana Lang in the ABC superhero drama Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Procter briefly appeared in The Dukes of Hazzard Reunion. (1997) as Mavis, and in the show Body Shots (1999), as Whitney Bryant. In 1995, Procter was Annabel (Matt LeBlanc's brief love interest) on the second episode of season 2 of the NBC series Friends. The episode was titled "The One with the Breast Milk". Procter was a regular role in the West Wing's drama about politics The West Wing, from 2000 until 2002, and again in 2006. In the second episode of season two, Procter was played by Annabel, who was a brief love interest for Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc), in "The One with the Breast Milk" the episode was named "The One with the Breast Milk." Procter is also close to Jorja Fox who was a part of the CBS crime scene investigation CBS drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Crime Scene Investigation Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, from 2000 to 2015. Fox convinced Procter that she should try auditioning for the starring part of Calleigh Duquesne in the CSI: Miami spin-off. She was selected. The show aired on CBS for 10 seasons, starting on September 23rd, 2002, until April 8, 2012.Procter participated in 2007's Live Earth event by reading aloud, along with several other actresses in an essay written by Michelle Gardner-Quinn wrote when she was at the University of Vermont.In February 2013, Procter had a recurring part in the final two episodes of season 4 of the USA Network crime drama White Collar. She was Amanda Callaway, an agent from Atlanta who is promoted to head the FBI's white collar crimes department located in New York City.
