Jewel (singer)

Jewel Kilcher (born May 23, 1974)[2] is an American artist, actress, and author. She was born on May 23, 1974. She was fifteen years old when she received a partial award to the Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan. The school was where she learned operatic voice. She began to perform in clubs and coffeehouses in San Diego after she graduated from high school. She was noticed by local media and was offered an album deal with Atlantic Records. Pieces of You was her debut album. It would go on to become one of the most successful debut albums ever with a 12-times platinum certification. The album's first single, "Who Will Save Your Soul", peaked in the Billboard Hot 100 at number 11. Two other singles, "You Were Meant For Me" and "Foolish Games" were also included on the year-end singles charts. This Way (2001) was her next album. She released 0304 in 2003. The album marked different from her earlier folk-oriented recordings and included electronic arrangements as well as elements that were dance-pop in nature. In 2008, she came out with Perfectly Clear, her first country album; it came out on top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and featured three singles, "Stronger Woman", "I Do", and "'Til It Feels like cheating". In 2009, Jewel released Lullaby, her first album independently.
