James Michael Anderson OBE (born 30 July 1982) is an English international cricketer who is a member of the Lancashire County Cricket Club and the England cricket team. He is also an occasional cricket commentator for the BBC. In the field of fast bowlers, Anderson is the leading wicket-taker in history at Test cricket level, being the only fast bowler who has taken at least 600 Test wickets. Among all types of bowler Anderson is the third highest wicket-taker in the world. Anderson is also the record holder of having the highest number of wickets by an England player in One-Day International cricket (ODI). In June 2021, he played his 173rd appearance for England in Test cricket. He became the most captained player in England. In addition, he played in more than 200 One-Day Internationals. [33 Anderson is widely regarded as one of the best swing bowlers ever. He made his international debut in 2002, during the England winter tour of Australia. In the summer following the following year, he took part in his first Test game against Zimbabwe. Anderson was injured during his first few years of professional career which included a stress fracture to the back that was a major reason he was out of action throughout the course of the year. But he soon established himself as the leading opening bowler in England's Test team. He was a regular strike bowler with the national one-day side, however, he hasn't been a part of the shorter format of the game at an international level following the 2015 World Cup.
