De Laurentiis was a student at Le Cordon Bleu, Paris. She aspires to become a pastry chef. After her return to the United States and became a professional chef. She worked in various Los Angeles restaurants, including Spago which is owned by Wolfgang Puck. After working as a food stylist she was contacted in 2003 by the Food Network. Everyday Italian is her daytime cooking show was launched on April 5th on the 5th of April, 2003. 2] On Chefography the Food Network biography program, she claimed that she didn't want to be involved in the "family business" of show business, and also that she felt uneasy before cameras when she began hosting Everyday Italian. The Food Network was accused of hiring models or actors to pretend to be a chef when the program was first broadcast. De Laurentiis started hosting Behind the Bash on October 5th, 2005. The show examines the way that big occasions like the Grammy Awards are catered. Giada's Weekend Getaways debuted on Food Network in January 2007. On the show, De Laurentiis visits a particular location (including Seattle, South Beach, San Francisco, Napa and Jackson Hole, Wyoming) and visits her favorite local restaurants. De Laurentiis & Bobby Flay were defeated by Rachael Ray & Mario Batali on an Iron Chef America episode in November 2006.
