American actor and film director George Timothy Clooney was born May 6 1961. He is the recipient of many awards including the British Academy Film Award, four Golden Globe Awards, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Academy Awards, one for his acting and the other as a producer. He was awarded the AFI Life Achievement Award in the year 2018. He would be a star in a variety of films during this period as well, including from From Dusk To dawn (1996). The actor continued to appear in films like the superhero film Batman & Robin (1997), and Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight (1998), David O. Russell's Three Kings, and the Coen brothers' O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000).In 2001, Clooney's fame was boosted by the release of his greatest commercial success, Steven Soderbergh's heist comedy remake of Ocean's Eleven, the first of what would become a trilogy, starring Clooney. The following year, he made his directorial debut with Confessions of an Dangerous Mind, which was a spy-drama. He also directed historical dramas Good Night, and Good Luck (2006), the sports-themed comedy Leatherheads (2008), The Ides of March (2011), The Monuments Men (2014), and The Midnight Sky (2020). Clooney won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the Middle East thriller Syriana (2005) In the following year, he earned Best Actor nominations for the legal thriller Michael Clayton (2007), comedy-drama Up in the Air (2009) and The Descendants (2011). He was awarded the Academy Award for Best Picture for producing the political thriller Argo (2012). He also appeared in Burn After Reading (2008), The American (2010), Gravity (2013), and Hail, Caesar! (2016).
