Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2 1972) is also known as The Rock's ring name,] is an American actor and former professional wrestler. The Rock is widely considered to be one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time,[6][7] Johnson was a key player in the development and success of the WWE during the Attitude Era which was a boom in the industry during the latter half of the 1990s and early 2000s. Johnson was a WWF/E wrestler for 8 years before deciding to pursue a career in acting. His films have earned him more than $3.5 billion in North America and over $10.5 billion globally, making him one of the top-grossing and highest-paid actorsPrior to his emergence as an actor with the highest grossing earnings in the late 2010s, Johnson was an athlete. In his time at Freedom High School in Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania in the Lehigh Valley, he ultimately became a standout player on the school's football and wrestling teams. Both of them competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, a conference that has produced top professional and Olympic athletes. He credits his coach at the high school for inspiring transformational changes in his life which prior to entering sports in 11th grade had been characterized by fights and petty crimes as a high-school teenager. The football skills he displayed during his time at Freedom High School led him to be named among the top 10 high school defensive tackle prospects in the United States which attracted the attention of several NCAA Division I college football programs.
