Cate Blanchett

 Catherine Elise Blanchett, AC (/blaentSIt/) was born on 14 May 1969. She is an Australian actor[a] as well as a television producer. She is regarded as one of the top actresses of the current generation. Her versatility across film and blockbusters has earned her the reputation for being a great performer. She has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, three British Academy Film Awards, as well as three Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for the Tony Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards.After having graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, Blanchett began her acting career on the Australian stage, playing the roles of Electra in 1992, and Hamlet in 1994. The attention of the world was focused on her role as Elizabeth I in Elizabeth (1998). She won the Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award for Best Actress and received her first Academy Award nomination. The role she played as Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator (2004) won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She later was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for playing a neurotic former socialite in Woody Alley's comedy-drama Blue Jasmine (2013). Blanchett's other Oscar-nominated roles include Notes on a Scandal (2006) I'm Not There (2007), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) and Carol (2015). She is the most nominated Australian at Academy Awards with seven nominations. Blanchett has appeared in over 20 theater productions. From 2008 to 2013 her as well as her husband Andrew Upton, were the artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company. A few of her stage roles during that time included revivals of A Streetcar Named Desire, Uncle Vanya, Gross und klein and The Maids, garnering several theatre awards and nominations. In 2017 she made her Broadway debut with The Present. She was nominated for the Tony Award as Best Actress in a Play. Blanchett was also awarded Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in the form of a Limited Series or Movie and Outstanding Limited Series as a producer of the FX/Hulu historical drama mini-series Mrs. America (2020).
