Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24 1941) is an American musician and singer. He is often referred to as one of the greatest songsters of the past, Dylan has been a significant figure in popular culture during a career spanning over 60 years. His most famous work dates back to the 1960s , when songs like "Blowin' In the Wind" (1963) as well as "The Times are a-Changin' (1964) were considered to be the most popular anthems of the civil rights movement and antiwar movements. The lyrics he wrote during this time included a variety of social, political literary, and philosophical influences, defying pop-music rules and appealing to the rapidly growing counterculture. Dylan's self-titled debut album from 1962 that featured predominantly traditional folk songs was later followed by the album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, his first album as the songwriter. The album includes "Blowinin the Wind" and the complex and thematically rich "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna fall". Many of his songs were influenced by old folk songs. In 1964, Dylan released the politically sensitive The Times They are a-Changin' and the more reflective and lyrically abstract Side of Bob Dylan. In 1965 and 1966 Dylan caused controversy among folk purists when he adopted electronically amplified rock instrumentation and over the course of fifteen months, he released three of the most influential and significant rock albums in the 1960s: Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited (both 1965) and Blonde on Blonde (1966). The song, which lasted six minutes "Like A Rolling Stone" which was released in 1965, broadened the boundaries of creativity and commerce of pop music.
