Self-esteem

 Self-esteem refers to confidence in one's capabilities and self-worth. Self-esteem is a belief about oneself (for example, "I am loved", "I am worthy") as well as emotional states, such as the feeling of triumph, despair, pride, and shame. Smith and Mackie (2007) defined the concept by saying "The self-concept is what we think about the self; self-esteem, is the positive or negative evaluations of oneself as well as how we feel about it. Self-esteem is a psychological phenomenon that predicts specific outcomes such as academic success as well as marital happiness, happiness and even criminal behaviour. Self-esteem can be applied to a single attribute or to all. Psychologists believe that self-esteem is an ongoing personality trait (trait-self-esteem), but there are also normal fluctuations in the short-term. Self-esteem is a synonym or near-synonym. include: self-worth, self-regard, self-respect, and self-integrity.
