Oprah Winfrey

Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a single teenage mother and later raised in inner-city Milwaukee. She claims to have been molested during her childhood and in her teens. At 14 years old, she became pregnant. The baby was born prematurely, and died within the first year of his life. Winfrey was then taken in by the man she calls her father. Vernon Winfrey, a barber in Nashville, Tennessee, and landed a job in radio as a teenager. At the age of 19, she was a co-anchor on the local evening news. Winfrey's often emotional, extemporaneous delivery ultimately led her to the daytime talk show arena, and after boosting an unrated local Chicago talk show up to first place, she launched her own production company.By the mid-1990s, Winfrey had reinvented her show to focus on self-improvement and literature as well as spirituality, mindfulness, and mindfulness. While she faced criticism for her self-help beliefs and her proponent of confessionalism, she is recognized for her capacity to rise above challenges and become a benefactor for other people. Winfrey was also a major campaigner in the presidential election of 2008. Her support for Barack Obama was estimated to be worth around one million votes in the 2008 Democratic primaries. In 2013, Winfrey was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama[17] and received honorary doctoral degrees from Duke and Harvard. In 2008, Winfrey launched her own network, the Oprah Winfrey Network.
