Minions (film)

Minions, a 2015 American computer-animated comedy film made by Illumination Entertainment and distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures, is called "Minions". It is the spin-off/prequel[a] and the third film overall of the Despicable Me franchise. Produced by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda (in Balda's directorial debut) and produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and written by Brian Lynch, it stars the voice actors of Coffin as Minions (including Kevin, Stuart, and Bob), Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Steve Coogan, Jennifer Saunders, and is narrated by Geoffrey Rush. The film is a story of the Minions that are looking for the evil master they are able to replace after they have killed every historical figure. The film premiered in London on June 11 in 2015. It was then released in the United States on August 10. The film received mixed feedback from critics, who applauded the animation, voice acting, and score, while criticizing the character development and humor that some deemed to be dull and unsuitable. It was a financial success at the box office, earning $1.159 billion worldwide, and became the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2015, the 10th-highest-grossing film of all time, the second-highest-grossing animated film of all time during its theatrical run, and is to date the highest-grossing animated film not released by Walt Disney Pictures. In 2022, Minions: The Rise of Gru was released.
