Michael Jeffrey Jordan, also called his initials MJ[9], is an American businessman who was previously an elite basketball player. His bio on the official NBA website says: "By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the most successful basketball player ever. "[10He played 15 seasons with the National Basketball Association (NBA) which included winning six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan is the sole director and owner of the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA and also of 23XI Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. He was integral in popularizing the NBA around the world in the 1980s and 1990s and becoming a worldwide cultural icon during the process.ordan played basketball in college for three years under the guidance of coach Dean Smith with the North Carolina Tar Heels. He was a Tar Heels freshman and played college basketball for three seasons under coach Dean Smith. He won his first NBA championship in 1991 for the Bulls and won titles in 1992 and 1993. He was able to achieve a record-setting three-peat. Jordan was forced to retire from basketball prior to the 1993-94 NBA season, to join Minor League Baseball but returned to the Bulls in March 1995 and led them to three championships in 1996, 1997, and 1998 in addition to a record 72 regular season wins in 1995-96 NBA season. In January 1999, he retired and he came back to the NBA for two more seasons as part of the Washington Wizards.
