Mehmet Oz

 Mehmet Cengiz Oz[a] is an American former professor of cardiothoracic surgical at Columbia University. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Turkish immigrants. Oz was being a dual citizen of Turkey and the U.S., served 60 days in the Turkish Army in 1980s to keep his Turkish citizenship. In 1986, he began his surgical residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. In 2001, he was made a professor of surgery at Columbia University, and later retired as a professor emeritus in 2018. In 2003, Oprah Winfrey was the first guest on the Discovery Channel series Second Opinion with Dr. Oz, and the show was also a regular feature on the Oprah Winfrey Show and made more than sixty appearances. The Dr. Oz Show was created by Winfrey's Harpo Productions, and Sony Pictures Television. It ran for 13 seasons. Oz's advocacy of pseudoscience, which includes topics like alternative medical practices, faith healing and various paranormal beliefs, has earned him criticism from a number of medical publications and doctors.
