 Record executive. His career began in 1995, at the age of 12 when Wayne was signed by rapper Birdman and joined Cash Money Records as the youngest artist on the label. From that point on, Wayne was the flagship artist for Cash Money Records before ending his contract with the label in June of this year. Wayne was recognized as one the most popular rappers of his time through XXL in 1995, formed a duo along with B.G. They released True Story in 1995, that was released by B.G. (at the at the time, Lil Doogie). Wayne was, at the time, was known by the name of Baby D. Wayne as well as B.G. Soon after joining the south hip-hop group Hot Boys with Cash Money label-mates Juvenile Turk and Turk, they released their debut album Get It How U Live! In October 1999 they launched their debut album, Get It How U Live! In October of that year, the Hot Boys became popular following the release of their album Guerrilla Warfare (1999) and the hit song "Bling Bling". Lil Wayne's solo album, Tha Block is Hot (1999) was his breakthrough album. Also, he released his fourth and fifth albums Tha Carter (2004), Tha Carter II (2006) Tha Carter II (2006), along with collaborations, mixtapes and other albums throughout 2006 and 2007. He gained more attention in the music industry when he released the release of his sixth album Tha Carter III (2008) and first-week sales of more than one million copies in the US. The album received the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and featured the successful singles "A Milli", "Got Money" (featuring T-Pain), and "Lollipop" (featuring Static Major)--the one that was the first of his songs to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
