Wayne formed a duo with B.G. in 1995. They released True Story in 1995, and it was released by B.G. (at the time, he was known as Lil Doogie). Wayne was at the time was known as Baby D. 8. Wayne, B.G. soon joined the southern hip hop group Hot Boys, with Cash Money label-mates Juvenile and Turk in 1997; they launched their debut album, Get It How You Live! in the month of October. In October of that year, the Hot Boys became popular following the release of their album Guerrilla Warfare (1999) and the single "Bling Bling". Lil Wayne's solo album, Tha Block is Hot (1999), was his first album to break the charts. He also had his fourth and fifth albums Tha Carter (2004), Tha Carter II (2006) Tha Carter II (2006) and numerous mixtapes, collaborations and mixes throughout 2006 and 2007. The album he released in 2006 Tha Carter III (2008) was his first major hit in the music industry. It sold over 1 million copies in the first week. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and included successful singles "A Milli", "Got Money" (featuring T-Pain) as well as "Lollipop" (featuring Static Major)--the one that was his first single to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
