Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci[b] was an Italian polymath, who lived from 15 April 1452 until 2 May 1519. He was a painter and draughtsman , as also an engineer, scientist, and theorist. His notebooks were a collection of drawings and notes that he kept on a range of subjects including botany, anatomy cartography, painting and anatomy. Leonardo is widely regarded as an exceptional artist who was the epitomization of the Renaissance humanist ideal. His entire work is a significant contribution to the next generation of artists, which is only equal to his younger contemporaries, Michelangelo.Born out of wedlock to a notary who was successful and a lower-class woman close to or in Vinci the city, he was educated in Florence by the Italian painter and sculpturer Andrea del Verrocchio. His career began in Florence, and he spent much of his time in the service of Ludovico at Milan. He worked again in Florence and Milan, and briefly in Rome. While working the Italian was attracting a huge amount of followers and students. Upon the invitation by Francis I, he spent his last three years in France which was where he passed away in 1519. Since his death, there hasn't been a moment when his accomplishments, varied interests, personal life, and the way he thinks have failed to incite interest and admiration, making his name a regular cultural subject.
