Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci [b] was an Italian polymath who lived during the High Renaissance. He was a painter and draughtsman as also an engineer, scientist and theorist. His initial fame was due to his art, however, his fame was also based on his notebooks where the artist took notes and produced drawings on a variety of subjects including botany, anatomy cartography, painting and. Leonardo is widely believed to have been an artist of genius, who embodied the Renaissance humanist ideal, and his collective works comprise a contribution to later generations of artists matched only by that of his contemporary of a younger age, Michelangelo.Born out of wedlock to a notary who was successful and a lower-class woman who lived near Vinci, he was taught in Florence by the Italian painter and sculpturer Andrea del Verrocchio. He began his career in the city, and later was working for Ludovico Sforza, the sculptor and painter from Milan. He returned to work in Florence and Milan and then briefly in Rome. While working his work attracted a significant number of imitators and students. On the advice of Francis I, he spent the last three years of his life in France which was where he passed away in 1519. His achievements, his diverse ideas, and a logical approach have been awe-inspiring to people after his death. The name is a popular name and subject in the world of culture.
