Katharine Ross

 Katharine Juliet Ross, born January 29, 1940 is an American actress. One Academy Award nomination, one BAFTA Award and two Golden Globe Awards are only some of her awards. A native of Los Angeles, Ross spent much of her youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. After going to Santa Rosa Junior College for one year, Ross joined The Actors Workshop in San Francisco, and began performing in theater productions.Ross made her film debut in the Civil War-themed drama Shenandoah (1965) as well as had supporting parts in Mister Buddwing (1965) and The Singing Nun (1966) before she was cast in Curtis Harrington's Games (1967) which was which was a thriller that co-starred James Caan and Simone Signoret. Following the recommendation of Signoret, Ross was cast as Elaine Robinson in Mike Nichols comedy-drama The Graduate (1967), that saw her garner an impressive amount of critical acclaim, which included the Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, a BAFTA nomination, and Golden Globe win for New Star of the Year. In 1968 Ross was a co-star in the John Wayne movie Hellfighters playing his daughter Tish Buckman. Further recognition came for her role in two westerns in 1969: Tell Them Willie Boy is Here and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
