Katharine Ross

 Katharine Juliet Ross, born on January 29 1940, is an American actress who has appeared on television, stage and in film. One Academy Award nomination, one BAFTA Award and two Golden Globe Awards are just some of her accomplishments. Ross is a native Los Angeles and spent her childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area. After going to Santa Rosa Junior College for one year, Ross joined The Actors Workshop in San Francisco, and began appearing in theatrical productions.Ross made her debut film appearance in the Civil War-themed drama Shenandoah (1965), and had supporting parts in Mister Buddwing (1965) and The Singing Nun (1966) before she was cast in Curtis Harrington's Games (1967) which was an action thriller starring James Caan and Simone Signoret. Signoret suggested Ross be included in Mike Nichols' comedy-drama The Graduate (1967). She received significant critical acclaim including an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress, BAFTA nomination as well as an award-winning Golden Globe win as New Star of the Year. In 1968 Ross was a co-star in the John Wayne movie Hellfighters playing his daughter Tish Buckman. The film also received acclaim for her performance in two 1969 western films: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here, for both of which she won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress.
