John McEnroe

John Patrick McEnroe Jr. (born on the 16th of February, 1959) is an American former professional tennis player. His shot-making and volleying abilities as well as his competition with Bjorn Borg, Jimmy Connors and Jimmy Connors, and his erratic on-court behavior often got his umpires in trouble. McEnroe is the sole male tennis player to hold both singles and doubles No. 1. Stefan Edberg was the only male tennis player to achieve No. 1 in both, although at different times. McEnroe ended his career with singles titles of 77 on the ATP Tour and 78 doubles titles. It is the highest men's combined total of the Open Era. He is the only male player to have won more than 70 titles in both the men's singles as well as the doubles category for men. He also won 25 singles titles in the ATP Champions tour. He won seven Grand Slam singles titles, four at Wimbledon and three at Wimbledon. He also won nine Grand Slam men’s doubles titles at Wimbledon and four at US Open. He also was awarded a Grand Slam mixed doubles title at the French Open. The singles record he set in 1984 with 82-3 is the most successful single-season win rate in the Open Era.
