Jeffrey Preston Bezos (/'beIzoUsor BAY-zohss'; not ne Jorgensen; born January 12, 1964) is an American entrepreneur, media proprietor, investor, and commercial astronaut. Bezos is the founder, executive chairman and the former president and CEO of Amazon. With a net value of US$114.5 billion in November 2022, Bezos is the fourth-wealthiest person in the world and was the most wealthy between 2017 and 2021, according to Bloomberg's Billionaires Index and Forbes.Born in Albuquerque and raised in Houston and Miami, Bezos graduated from Princeton University in 1986. He has a degree in electrical engineering and computer science. He worked in Wall Street in a variety of fields related to it from 1986 to the beginning of 1994. Bezos founded Amazon in late 1994 during an excursion from New York City to Seattle. It began as an online bookshop and has since grown to include a range of other e-commerce items and services, including audio and video streaming cloud computing, as well as artificial intelligence. It is the largest online sales business and the biggest Internet company by revenue, and the largest provider of virtual assistants as well as cloud infrastructure services through its Amazon Web Services branch.Bezos founded the aerospace manufacturing company and suborbital spaceflight service company Blue Origin in 2000. Blue Origin's New Shepard spacecraft travelled into space in 2015. It was then successfully returned to Earth. In 2013, he bought the American newspaper The Washington Post for $250 million. He also manages other investments through his venture capital firm, Bezos Expeditions. Bezos and Mail.ru creator Yuri Milner co-founded the biotechnology company Altos Labs in September 2021.
