He has been all over the globe, including Canada, the United States and England, before settling in New Zealand. McTavish was a comedian and school friend. His drama teacher asked him to play the principal actor in Sheridan’s The Rivals. McTavish went on to study at Queen Mary University of London, earning a degree in English literature. After having performed in a Samuel Becke play, McTavish was able to perform in three Shakespeare productions during the school year.
