Edward Holcroft

 Holcroft is the third son of three children born to Lieutenant. Colonel Patrick Holcroft (a soldier) and Kathleen "Annie" Holcroft Roberts (nee Roberts), a former Conde Nast publisher. His elder brother, Oliver Holcroft, is an ex-soldier who was with the Grenadier Guards in Afghanistan. Edward was sent to boarding school at the age of eight, first going to prep school at Summer Fields School in Oxford and later to an Roman Catholic school, Ampleforth College, in North Yorkshire. He initially wanted to become professional drummer after attending music school, but switched to acting after appearing in a play at Oxford Brookes University. After graduating from Oxford Brookes University he continued his studies at the Drama Centre London of Central Saint Martins University of the Arts London.
