Catherine Bell (actress)

Bell was a star in Men of War, a 1994 Dolph Lundgren movie. Bell and Trevor Goddard became close friends as they shot the film in Thailand. Goddard would portray Bell's intermittent love partner Mic Brumby in JAG in the years following. Goddard passed away in June of 2003 of a fatal drug overdose. Bell, who was grieving, described the event as "horrible". She was offered a three-line role in an episode of the NBC series JAG. The show is based on the work of the United States Department of the Navy's Judge advocate General Office. After NBC cancelled the show, CBS picked it up and restructured it with Sarah MacKenzie, a Marine Corps lawyer. Bell was a candidate for the role and was selected. The first episode featured Bell speaking Persian. She continued in this role until the series ended in 2005. Bell began her career in the ensemble drama series of Lifetime Army Wives in 2007. She was Denise Sherwood (the wife of a U.S. Army lieutenant colonel) who is the victim of domestic violence from her son, who is aged 17. Bell played Cassandra Nightingale (the main character in Hallmark's The Good Witch (2008) and its sequels The Good Witch's Gift (2010) and The Good Witch's Family (2011). She was also a co-executive producer of all the films. She also starred as Last Man Standing (2011) on Lifetime.
