Bob Ross

Ross, then 18, was enlisted into the US Air Force at age 18 as a medical record tech. 15 Ross rose to the rank master sergeant, and was the first sergeant at Eielson Airforce Base in Alaska. This is where he saw the mountains and snow that would later turn into frequent themes in his art. Ross developed his fast painting technique during brief breaks in his daily work breaks.Having held military positions that required him to be rough and cruel, "the guy who makes you clean the latrine, the person who demands you to make your bed, and the one who screams at your for being late to work", Ross decided he did not speak up when he left the militarprices of his paintings, which ranged from the thousands of dollars and often exceeding $10,000. The most prominent auction houses have never sold any of Ross's paintings and Bob Ross Inc. continues to own a number of ones he made in the show The Joy of Painting, since Ross himself was opposed to having his work turned into financial instruments. In contrast to more well-known artists, his work classified by an art appraisal service as a hybrid of "fine art" and "entertainment memorabilia" -- is popular with common fans of The Joy of Painting, in contrast to collectors with a wealth. The artwork circulating among collectors is mostly from his paintings prior to his debut on the show on television.
