Anson Williams

Williams was born Anson William Heimlich, a member of the Jewish family. His father Haskell Heimlich changed the spelling of his name to "Heimlick" Heimlick, which is distinct from Williams's uncle Dr. Henry Heimlich who is the inventor of the Heimlich maneuver that treats choking victims. Williams was a student at Burbank High School, where he was the captain of the track team and performed in numerous school productions. In the year 1971, he starred with John Amos in a commercial for McDonald's.n 1972, Williams portrayed Potsie Weber in a segment of the comedy-anthology show Love, American Style titled "Love and the Happy Days", which included Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard), Richie's mother Marion (Marion Ross) as well as other characters that were separated into the TV series Happy Days. (Only Williams, Howard, and Ross reprised their roles). The debut season, in which Williams was second in line after Howard was given the lead role, was focused primarily around Richie and Potsie. As Arthur Fonzie Fonzarelli, Richie's mother, father, and sister became more famous, Potsie was joined in the second season by Ralph Malph (Don Most), and Potsie became an inseparable couple.
